AUSTIN, TX (WAFB) - The longest annual charity bicycle ride in the world will roll through Baton Rouge as part of the journey.
The Texas 4000 team left Austin, TX on Saturday to start its 4,000 mile ride to Anchorage, AK in the fight against cancer. The group will pass through Baton Rouge on June 12.
While in Baton Rouge, the team will celebrate and share hope with friends and family.
The group is made up of 67 undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Texas at Austin. Those riders have raised more than $485,000 for cancer research, treatment and prevention.
The 4,000 mile trip will take 70 days.
