BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A convicted felon, Demarcus Lee Davis, has been arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Department for possession of a firearm, and it was all due to his own Facebook video.
Back in 2015, Meaux Guns & Ammo was robbed of dozens of firearms, including the firearm Davis is allegedly seen with in his Facebook video. Davis and at least eight other individuals are seen in the video rapping and holding firearms, warning that they should not be "messed with."
Many of the firearms were identified as the same make and model as those stolen from Meaux Guns & Ammo. Police were able to identify the residence where the video was shot as the house number was clearly visible in the video.
The owner of the store was able to identify the firearm Davis had in his possession due to many characteristics, including features of the firearm's magazine and barrel. Officials say another stolen firearm in the video was identified because its serial number was clearly visible in the video.
Davis was taken into custody after a traffic stop on Thursday and allegedly admitted to being in possession of a real firearm. He was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and his bond is set at $23,000.
Three other suspects have been arrested in connection to the 2015 robbery of Meaux Guns & Ammo. They are Geno Lyons, 23, Oneal Thompson, and Charles Evans, both 19.
