'Laptops for Kids' program kicks off for 2016

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Capitol Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC) is kicking off its "Laptops for Kids" program on June 1.

Officials said the program offers students in pre-K through high school to buy discounted laptop computers because access to a computer is an integral part of education.

The laptops cost $90 plus tax. The program runs through August 15.

"Last year, the program was offered to EBR Parish students and was a huge success," Nancy Jo Craig, executive director at CACRC, said in a written release. "This year, we have renewed the offer to EBR and expanded the discount to students in nearby area school systems."

To qualify for the program, applicants must provide a report card or school ID.

CACRC is located at 1400 Main Street. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mon-Friday. Go online at www.cacrc.com or call 225-379-3577 for more information about the program.
