BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police reported an arrest has been made in the shooting death of an East Feliciana Parish School Board member.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Jacquez Griffin, 19, of Baton Rouge, was arrested Thursday night and has been booked on a charge of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Broderick Brooks, 34, of Jackson.
Police reported Brooks was found shot to death in a car on Wenonah Street near Winbourne Avenue on Monday around 3:30 a.m. Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. said he was in the driver's seat of the car and was shot several times.
BRPD said DNA processed at the scene by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab was vital to the investigation.
Investigators said they have not yet established a motive in the shooting.
Brooks was a well-known educator, community servant and pastor. He was member of the East Feliciana Parish School Board and a publicist for RKM Primary Care in Clinton.
People who knew Brooks described him as upbeat, hard-working and helpful. He left behind a wife and three children.
