PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) - A woman accused of pepper spraying a Wal-Mart employee after stealing alcohol from the store is in custody, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said 38-year-old Rekisha Reed, of Baton Rouge, allegedly stole several bottles of alcohol worth about $220 from the Wal-Mart in Prairieville on Sunday, May 15.

According to APSO, an employee tried to stop her, but ended up being pepper-sprayed in the face by Reed while outside the store. Reed then left in a black Mercury Milan, which had a temporary license plate, with two other females inside the vehicle.

Reed was arrested by Gonzales Police Monday afternoon while trying to steal from the Wal-Mart in Gonzales.

Reed was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of felony theft of goods, theft of goods, and aggravated battery. She also faces a felony theft of goods charge from Gonzales Police Department.

No bond has been set yet.
