Former EBR Metro councilman, former constable Richard 'Buddy' Wilson dies

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Former East Baton Rouge Metro councilman and constable Richard "Buddy" Wilson has died.

Wilson passed away Friday night at the age of 78.

Wilson served on the Metro Council in the District Six seat for six years. He was first elected to the position in 1989 and was re-elected in 1993. He was later elected as the East Baton Rouge Parish constable in 1995.

The former councilman is also the father of current EBR Metro councilman Scott Wilson and EBR Assessor Brian Wilson.

Visitation will be held at Green Oaks Funeral Home on Monday, May 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will continue at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24 with mass to follow at 11 a.m.
