EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office unveiled their new tactical vehicles Friday.
The Sheriff's Office showed off their new helicopter, command center and a vehicle that allows them to house deputies on location.
Deputies have already started using the new vehicles in other parts of the state.
Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says they are willing to share their vehicles with other law enforcement agencies.
"This is just bringing us to another level. And we are very fortunate," said Gautreaux. The helicopter was acquired through the 1033 program with the federal government. Which if that program would have not been available, we would not have been able to afford to buy a helicopter like this."
Gautreaux added that his department chipped in some of the money to pay for some of the new equipment with the help from a private foundation that he says asked to remain anonymous.
