PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - The Port Allen Police Department is searching for a Baton Rouge woman accused of bank fraud.
Police say they are searching for Angel Neshell Banks.
According to police, Banks walked into the West Baton Rouge Federal Credit Union on March 22 and deposited a counterfeit cashier's check for $1997.55. She also withdrew more than 90 percent of the deposited money and spent the rest of it with her debit card attached to the account.
The credit union filed charges against Banks after they sent her a notice and did not get a response.
Police say when they contacted Banks, she claimed that she had been scammed and wired money to the scammers through Western Union. An investigation found that it was not true.
If you know of the whereabouts of Banks, you are asked to call the Port Allen Police Department at 225-343-5525.
