BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials said one person was taken to the hospital with burns after a group home caught fire early Tuesday morning.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened at the Arcadia Group Home on Arlingford Avenue just before 2 a.m.
Mark Miles with BRFD said firefighters rescued one person from the room where the fire started. He added the victim was taken by EMS to the hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation.
He also said investigators determined the fire was caused by a problem with an electrical outlet.
According to the fire department, the security company reported an alarm had gone off at the facility. Officials said responding firefighters were told there was a fire in one of the rooms and people were still inside.
Reports stated workers said they tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. They added firefighters were able to get everyone out and stopped the fire from spreading beyond the room where it started.
The name of the person taken to the hospital was not released and a condition was not given.
