BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said a man faces cruelty charges after a toddler was taken to the hospital with burns to her feet.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Joey Anderson, 30, of Baton Rouge, was booked Sunday on charges of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and on a traffic warrant for speeding. No bond was set.
According to the probable cause report, the 16-month-old's father took her to the hospital after Anderson dropped her off. The report stated Anderson is the father's roommate and takes care of the child while the father is at work.
The report added the child's father told investigators Anderson called him Saturday night and said the little girl's feet were sunburned. Deputies said the doctor stated the second-degree burns the child suffered were likely not from a sunburn.
Deputies reported Anderson told them he may have accidentally burned the victim in the bath tub.
