Gov. proclaims it Hurricane Preparedness Week

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The school year is winding down and while the start of summer may be top of mind, there's something else you need to think about in the coming days.

Gov. John Bel Edwards proclaimed it Hurricane Preparedness Week.

Louisiana leaders are urging you to take the time to get a game plan for you and your family.

That means map out an evacuation route, get an emergency kit together and make sure you have important tools like the WAFB First Alert Weather app.

Hurricane season gets underway in about two weeks.

It goes from June 1 through November 30.
