BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A quick fire happened at a plant in North Baton Rouge Friday evening.
Officials at the East West Copolymer plant on Scenic Highway say there was a scrap rubber fire in the back of the plant. That type of rubber is mainly used in tires.
The fire attracted attention of people nearby who could see lots of dark, black smoke caused by the fire coming from the plant.
However, plant officials say it took 17 minutes for workers to get the fire completely under control.
Officials reported that there were no injuries or damaged at the plant.
According to the company's website, the company produces synthetic rubber at the facility, which has been there since the 1940s. The company was formerly known as Lion Copolymer.
