BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Former Gov. Kathleen Blanco was among four women leaders in the Capital area honored Wednesday by the Girl Scouts.
The awards luncheon was held at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel. It was a fundraiser for Girl Scouts Louisiana East.
"I have four daughters and I have granddaughters who all went through scouting," Blanco said. "We found it so valuable for them. And I'd join them on campouts, and they went to Girl Scout camp, and they did all kinds of things that I think are really important for young ladies of today."
The Girl Scouts also honored LSU Lady Tigers basketball coach Nikki Fargas, along with state Rep. Julie Stokes and Mae Calvin Belson, the president-elect of the Baton Rouge Symphony.
