BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - There's been considerable frustration expressed recently about the state of economic development in north Baton Rouge. Clearly, the northern part of the city is not prospering anything like the southern half and people are becoming more vocal and intentional in their efforts to see more business growth come to the area north of Florida Boulevard.
One project that clearly has the potential to spur economic enterprise in that area and throughout the region is the new McKay Automotive Technology Center, the cornerstone of the planned Ardendale development. This brand new state-of-the-art training facility is being developed as part of the curriculum offered at Baton Rouge Community College.
The center will train students to become automotive technicians, jobs which local business leaders say are high-paying and in demand. Classes will begin this fall and you can contact Baton Rouge Community College for enrollment information.
