Two Mother's Day arsons caused about $85,000 in damages, according to Baton Rouge Fire Department estimates.
BRFD units responded to the first fire in the 1800 block of Spanish Town Road at about 11:35 a.m., and had it under control about 10 minutes later. Officials say the fire was put under control with minimal fire damage to the house.
The second fire happened about five hours later at a home in the 6300 block of Cyrus Avenue. Crews arrived on scene to find fire coming from the front bedroom of the house, but were able to contain the flames to that room. The rest of the house sustained smoke damage.
Anyone with information on these arsons are urged to contact the Baton Rouge Fire Department at 225-354-1419.
