BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - More has come to light about the man arrested in connection with a rape and robbery of a woman in the Garden District.
Baton Rouge Police arrested 22-year-old Thairie Robinson in connection with the rape and robbery of a woman Thursday night.
According to public records, Robinson has been in and out of jail over the years, and was accused of sexual assault days before last week's attack. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office says Robinson is accused of sexually assaulting a female on April 30.
Police say DNA evidence processed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab played a big part in the investigation.
According to police, Robinson was picked up from a local Salvation Army after he needed medical assistance. Police added that he still had the victim's ID on him at the time was arrested.
Robinson was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he has been booked with aggravated burglary and first degree rape. He has also been booked as a fugitive from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office from a separate sexual assault case. Robinson was recently released from East Baton Rouge Parish Prison after being arrested on January 28 for a simple burglary charge.
