BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Students at Our Lady of the Lake College now have a new place to learn how to save lives.
Leaders cut the ribbon Monday at the Simulated Environment Teaching Hospital, or "SETH" for short.
Using the facility, students will learn through real world scenarios in a real clinical setting. Some of those scenarios range from labor and delivery to working with respiratory and pediatric patients.
"We hope that by having students from various disciplines collaborate pre-licensure this will enhance their ability to effectively work as a team when entering the health profession and ultimately improve patient outcome," said Tabitha Jones-Thomas with OLOL College.
OLOL said the simulated environment also helps students learn the roles of everyone on the team and encourages them to speak up on behalf of patients when necessary.
