BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU head baseball coach Paul Mainieri and his Tigers are going through a tough stretch.
The Tigers have now lost five of their last seven games overall, including a disappointing series at Ole Miss in which the Rebels took two of three from LSU in Oxford. LSU was able to defeat the Rebels Friday night 6-3, but even that contest led to some frustrating consequences for the Tigers.
A controversial play at the plate led to the LSU's Jordan Romero not only being called out, but likewise ejected from the game and then suspended for Saturday's 8-2 Ole Miss triumph.
That's hardly to say the Tigers would've won had Romero played, but not having one of the Tigers' hottest hitters certainly didn't help.
During Monday's visit with WAFB, Mainieri expressed his frustration on calls made at the plate in recent years and confusion over what exactly is legal and what isn't.
