NFL Draft note: A first in the first round for Louisiana Tech

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

When the Carolina Panthers selected Louisiana Tech Defensive Tackle, Vernon Butler, with the 30th overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft. Butler became the first defensive player in school history to be drafted in the first round. 

Butler joined Pro Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw (1970), Roger Carr (1974), Pro Football Hall of Famer Willie Road (1993) and Troy Edwards (1999) as the only Louisiana Tech players to be selected in the first round since 1967.
