Investigators said four foreigners were arrested after allegedly trying to use fake credit cards at a sporting goods store.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said Academy Sports on Industriplex Boulevard reported people in the store using counterfeit credit cards on April 18.

Spokeswoman Savannah Williams with EBRSO said detectives arrested four Cuban Nationals who had 23 fake credit cards on them.

She added a search of the suspects' vehicle turned up an additional 155 counterfeit credit cards.

Officials stated $4,000 worth of gift cards was also found in the car. They said the gift cards were the result of the suspects returning items they had bought with the fake credit cards.

Investigators reported detectives also found $3,500 worth of merchandise that had been purchased using the counterfeit credit cards.

All four suspects were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of theft and monetary instrument abuse.

The investigation is ongoing.
