BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A hospital near the airport said they have a potential solution to lack of emergency care in North Baton Rouge.
Officials gave a first look Thursday at a possible plan to add an emergency room to Champion Medical Center near the Baton Rouge Airport on Howell Boulevard.
The hospital gave a tour inside at a place they say, with help from the city and state, could succeed where previous ERs failed in North Baton Rouge.
The hospital opened in 2005 and closed seven years later because of a lack of business. It reopened in 2014, just off Harding Boulevard.
Officials said it would not be for long-term care. They said the subsidy needed from the state would only be around $3 million a year.
