LSU head baseball coach Paul Mainieri apparently stirred up a few Tiger fans with his comments following Saturday night's 2-1 loss to Mississippi State.
Mainieri referred specifically to a play LSU first baseman Greg Deichmann was involved in, as Deichmann took his foot off the bag and consequently allowed a Bulldog runner to be ruled safe. That runner eventually scored, which obviously became a magnified event in a one-run defeat.
As LSU departed Wednesday for its weekend series at Ole Miss, however, Mainieri was adamant his intention was not to place blame at the feet of Deichmann.
