GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - Ascension Parish residents got a look at proposed improvements to a troublesome traffic spot in Gonzales.
At a meeting Tuesday night, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) unveiled a long-awaited feasibility study for the LA 30 corridor around I-10.
The study was expected to be finished in March 2015, but city officials said it ran into delays.
DOTD said they have some short-term fixes in place until these solutions can be put in place.
"There's some that need to be done and that's why we're addressing it because this area is growing," said Rodney Mallett with DOTD. "We have some short term fixes. One is a left turn lane by the interstate, by Veterans, and we're going to extend a lane over by Ashland by Tanger Mall. So those are going to be some short-term fixes that we're going to do as we lead up to these long term fixes."
Those short-term fixes are expected to be in place next year. The next step in the long-term solutions will be an environmental study.
