Detectives arrest victim's former roommate after decomposed body found in Zachary

ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) - Detectives have made an arrest in connection with a decomposed body found Sunday in Zachary.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported David Lyon, 37, of Baton Rouge, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Stephen Kennedy, 62, of Zachary.

Kennedy's body was found at his home on Deer Creek Drive around 8:45 p.m. Sunday when deputies were contacted to make a welfare check after someone reported Kennedy had not been seen in several days.

Investigators said he was stabbed to death and that he had a knife sticking out of his chest. Detectives added Lyon was developed as a suspect after two bloody fingerprints on the wall were confirmed as his. According to deputies, Lyon is a former co-worker and former roommate of the victim.

Lyon is being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $300,000 bond.
