BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Former NFL player Nathan Black, 37, was shot during an apparent robbery at a townhome complex in Baton Rouge early Monday morning.
Black, who owns a personal training studio in Baton Rouge, was shot in one of his legs, according to information he posted on his Facebook page Monday.
"I won't be making any sessions today. I was shot and robbed this morning at 4:00 am," his post read. "Blood pressure was at 80 something over 30 something but before I faded out The team at Our Lady of the Lake brought me back! Thank you to all the doctors and nursing I could hear scrambling to my aid and saved my life!!," the posted continued.
East Baton Rouge Parish deputies responded to the scene at the Quail Hollow Townhomes on Siegen Lane at Briar Hollow Avenue. The mother of a witness said her daughter heard screaming and heard two gun shots. She says her daughter saw a car speed off from the scene.
A sheriff's department spokeswoman said she is not aware of any suspects in the case and no arrests have been made.
Black, a graduate of Northwestern University and native of Monroe, played briefly as a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers in 2002.
