BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A new factory for a multi-national company officially opened its doors to Baton Rouge for the first time Friday.
Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden was at a ribbon cutting event for the power and automation company ABB. Among other attendees were U.S. Congressman Garret Graves, and State Director for Senator Bill Cassidy, Brian McNabb.
The guests of honor spoke to a packed room filled with company representatives and employees, with an ABB factory tour given in the 75,000 square foot facility. The factory was slated to be completed in late 2015.
"The location for the factory was chosen to enable ABB to best meet our business' expansion needs while also remaining in the Baton Rouge area where we have called home for our level products for nearly 40 years," said factory general manager Brian Miller. "The Baton Rouge area offers great quality of life for our employees and gives us access to an excellent skilled workforce to support our future growth plans."
