Bulldogs and Tigers meet this weekend with a lot on the line

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Miss. State Bulldogs and LSU Tigers meet this weekend with a lot at stake, not only in the SEC race, but for national rankings and regional positioning as well.

It will be a big weekend on the campus beginning Friday night with the jersey of All-American first baseman Eddy Furniss being retired in a 6:45 p.m. ceremony. LSU will also give away Eddie Furniss posters to the first 5,000 fans to enter Alex Box Stadium Friday night.

State enters the weekend with a 25-12-1 overall record this season and are 8-7 in the Southeastern Conference.

Last weekend the Bulldogs were swept by Texas A&M, but bounced back Wednesday night beating UL-Monroe 1-0 in 14 innings.

Miss. State is hitting .309 as a team compared to their opponent's .249 batting average.

Jake Mangum: .417 batting average and six doubles     
Jacob Robson: .372 batting average, four doubles, three triples and one home run 
Brent Rooker: .336 batting average, 10 doubles, two triples and three home runs     
Reid Humphreys: .336 batting average, 15 doubles and four home runs  
Jack Kruger: .333 batting average, 11 doubles and four home runs       
Nathaniel Lowe: .315 batting average, 10 doubles and two home runs

The Bulldog pitching staff has a 3.63 ERA and 364 strike outs this season.

Ryan Rigby: 4-1, 1.33 ERA in 11 bullpen appearances       
Konnor Pilkington: 1-0, 1.69 ERA in eight appearances, six as a starter 
Zac Houston: 2-0, 1.80 ERA in 12 appearances, three as a starter     
Dakota Hudson: 4-3, 2.08 ERA in nine starts 
Austin Sexton: 3-2, 3.96 ERA in nine starts
