Your Turn: State Parks

YOUR TURN: State Parks

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Pat Bartholomew. Like many other people, Bartholomew is also concerned about cuts to the Louisiana state budget, especially the possibility of closing some state parks. In Bartholomew's words:

I'm ready to pack my suitcase. Since the election of our new governor, we have had our taxes increased, health and education monies decreased, and now, the possibility of state parks closing. It is very odd that no one in the House and Senate knew how really bad the budget was in our state. Who decides which park is to close and which park is to stay open? If the governor ever did any camping with his family, the issue of closing our parks would not be on the chopping block. Where else can people go to enjoy gathering with family and friends that does not break the budget?

That's Pat Bartholomew's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to
