Officials look for information on bald eagle killed in Ventress


VENTRESS, LA (WAFB) - The Pointe Coupee Sheriff's Office and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (WLF) are asking for the public's help in finding the person responsible for killing a bald eagle.

WLF agents said the young eagle was shot and killed in the last two days near the 8000 block of Island Road in Ventress.

Killing a bald eagle is a federal crime punishable by up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call the WLF's Operation Game Thief at (800) 442-2511 or the Pointe Coupee Sheriff's Office at (225) 694-3737.
