BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Organizers with the Baton Rouge Blues Festival said record crowds attended this year's event.
With the help of a weekend of "perfect weather in downtown Baton Rouge," organizers estimate about 50,000 people showed up to enjoy the festival.
They said attendees were treated to 39 performers on four stages for the two days of the event.
"The 2016 Baton Rouge Blues Festival made history in downtown Baton Rouge, bringing in record attendees from all over the world - including as far as Perth, Australia," Chris Brooks, festival chairman, said. "We were thrilled to see the level of appreciation for and inspiration from our swamp blues heritage, from performers and attendees alike. We are even more excited to do it again next year."
Officials said there was a 73 percent growth in overall festival revenue from past years.
