BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A lawsuit against the City-Parish of Baton Rouge regarding funding for AIDS-HIV health care has been settled.
The city was sued on March 23 by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, who claimed the city had not fairly awarded federal funds used to help treat uninsured patients.
As a result, the city reportedly withheld federal Ryan White CARE Act funding from all AIDS help groups in Baton Rouge until the court could sort things out.
That move created an outcry from patients who use these services daily.
With the suit settled, funding should soon be restored.
