ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) - Seniors from East Baton Rouge learned how to stay safe with help from local law enforcement Tuesday afternoon.
Crime prevention and personal safety at home and in public were taught by Baton Rouge Police, EBR Sheriff's Deputies, and Zahcary Police and Fire Departments. The agencies lead demonstrations on measures like scam prevention to help educate seniors on what to do in different scenarios as a part of the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together expo, also known as SALT.
"We bring them in and give them a lot information, fraud information, healthcare information just anything that a senior needs to try to make sure they can see their officers, their local officers, their sheriff's office, city employees so that we can get that bond," said SALT President Sgt. Chad Parker.
The event was held at 4200 Main St. In Zachary and was free for seniors.
