ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A Morgan City man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Assumption Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers say the crash that killed 56-year-old Bruce Campbell happened on LA 662 north of US Hwy 90 after 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators determined that Campbell was driving south on the road when he ran off the road as the road curved. Campbell's vehicle rolled several times after it struck a driveway.
Troopers say Campbell was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner's Office.
LSP suspects speed to be a factor in the crash. Troopers can not say if alcohol was a factor as well, but they are waiting for the standard toxicology results.
Troopers advise the public to use their seat belts as Louisiana law requires every person in a vehicle, both in the front and back seats, to be buckled at all times.
