The Southern Jaguars run-ruled Prairie View A&M, 16-5, to clinch the series win Saturday.
The Jags first got on the board in the bottom of the first when a miscommunication at home plate gave freshman Anthony Valdes a chance to score.
Things started to unravel for the Panthers in the second inning as junior Charles Philpott had a rough time on the mound, walking in a run.
Philpott walked in three straight runs before leaving the mound. Senior Edward Robledo came in as relief, but freshman Jacob Juge ripped a shot to centerfield for a triple that cleared the bases.
Southern scored nine runs in the second inning and went on to win with SWAC's mercy rule.
The Jaguars can sweep the series with a win on Sunday, after entering the weekend with a nine-game losing streak.
