The District Attorney's office and BRAVE will host a free community picnic in honor of National Crime Victims' Rights week.
The event will be held Saturday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at BREC Howell Park, 5511 Winbourne Ave.
"The focus of the festival is to recognize victims' rights, bring awareness to the community of the violence surrounding them and show how violence can be prevented as a team," said Karelia Schmitz, spokesperson for BRAVE. "Survivors of violence, as well as families of homicide victims, will speak about their journey through the system and how violence has affected them."
At the festival, there will be food, entertainment, community agencies providing information, and giveaways. Click on the slideshow at the top of this story to see some of the items being given away.
