BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Mary Bird Perkins Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center will host its 8th annual Fest for Life.
The one-day event will provide free cancer screenings as well as other health screenings and will also offer food and entertainment for participants.
Screenings will include breast, prostate, skin, colorectal cancer and oral cavity cancer, along with blood pressure and glucose checks.
Over the years, Fest for Life has screened more that 4000 people.
"Fest for Life is an event I look forward to every year because it's a day someone's life could be saved through early detection," says Honorary Chairman of Fest for Life and Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden. "Every life is valuable and this is an opportunity to make sure everyone gets access to critical screenings."
Cancer screenings will be available for those who have not been screened in the past 12 months, are uninsured or considered underinsured.

Fest for Life will take place Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Bonne Carre' Business Center located at 7359 Florida Boulevard.
WAFB's Elizabeth Vowell will serve as the Emcee for the event.
