United Blood Services in need of negative blood type donations

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The United Blood Services is in need of all negative blood types, according to a news release issued Tuesday afternoon.

Donors will receive a $10 Amazon.com gift card, and will be able to pick a T-shirt from a shirt grab-bag.

Those looking to donate are urged to call United Blood Services at 877-827-4376, or by visiting www.bloodhero.com.

The Baton Rouge Donor Center can be found at 8234 One Calais. The center takes donations six days a week.

Donors can also visit www.UnitedBloodServices.org the day of their donation in order to complete the interview portion of their donation on-line. Make sure to print your “Fast track donation ticket” and bring it with you to your donation.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16-years-old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 years of age must have signed permission from a parent or guardian. The 16 year old donor permit form can be located at www.UnitedBloodServices.org. Donors receive a free cholesterol test. A photo ID is required to donate.
