BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A former police officer accused of theft has been issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to show up for court, officials say.

A court official says Christopher Guerra, a former Baton Rouge Police Officer, was supposed to be in Judge Beau Higginbotham's court Monday morning for an arraignment. He failed to show up, so a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Guerra was released from the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $1,500 bond. He is charged with access device fraud.

Investigators say Guerra illegally used his department issued fuel card 50 times, costing the agency $1,454.00.
