PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said a man is facing DWI, reckless operation and other charges after leading them on a chase that covered four parishes Sunday night.
The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office reported Raymond Williams, 47, refused to pull over on Belleview Road in Plaquemine when deputies tried to stop him on a speeding violation around 10 p.m.
Sheriff Brett Stassi said Williams hit speeds more than 66 miles per hour on Belleview and got up to 90 to 100 mph on I-10.
He added Louisiana State Police tried to use spike strips on Intracoastal Road, but couldn't.
The sheriff reported Williams led deputies with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, officers with the Addis and Brusly police departments and troopers with Louisiana State Police through Iberville, West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes.
According to Stassi, Williams finally stopped in Denham Springs when a tire failed.
He faces charges of DWI, reckless operation, aggravated flight from an officer, open container and speeding.
