BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - It doesn't take long to figure out Louisiana is a one-of-a-kind place, and what could be more Louisiana than a drive-thru daiquiri shop?
It looks like an ordinary gas station. Unless you look a little closer on the back of the lot where Shane "Bayou" Billiot is putting the drive in drive-thru.
"This was an abandoned, empty car wash for years," Billiot said.
His product is something even more Louisiana than alcohol: steaming hot, boiled seafood.
"When the customers come up to the window, and they're ordering five pounds, 10 pounds, 15 pounds. We have it hot and ready to go," Billiot said.
People are showing up to Cravin' Crawfish in droves.
"I look for opportunity to make a business better. I don't know any other place doing it," Billiot said.
At least no other business is doing it yet. With success comes competition, and that is just fine with Billiot. He is not in it for the money.
"Money is paper. That's all it is. I just want a better life," Billiot said.
And he is building it one drive-thru at a time.
Cravin' Crawfish is at the corner of Sherwood Forest and Meed. To help stay ahead of the competition, Billiot will also deliver right to your door.
