BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Lydia Pike. Pike and many other people are commenting on our Facebook page about some of the ideas Louisiana lawmakers have for reducing the cost of the TOPS program.

Under TOPS, Louisiana students with a 2.5 GPA and 20 ACT test score have received a full scholarship to a state public college. That's likely to change now. Pike and others are unhappy about that. In her words:

It is beyond me how this state can climb out of the hole it is in by cutting higher education and thereby adding to the welfare rolls in the long run. Why not pay for college for four years rather than subsidize housing, healthcare and food for the rest of people's lives (and generations to come)?

That's Lydia Pike's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to
