BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals reported it has been notified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that two Louisiana residents tested positive for the Zika virus.
Officials said the two people had recently visited the Caribbean and South America.
They added the patients have recovered and no longer have the virus in their bloodstreams.
The new cases bring the total number of Louisiana residents to be infected with the virus to four. All have recovered.
Officials said the CDC stated it has not identified any cases of local, mosquito-borne transmission of the virus in the continental US.
