BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The FBI issued a statement to local police agencies less than a week after discovering a way to unlock the San Bernadino terror suspect's iPhone.
The bureau is being flooded with requests to unlock or otherwise help with other cases around the country, including the murder case of Brittany Mills in Baton Rouge.
The statement reinforced the FBI's commitment to helping those agencies.
"The FBI will of course consider any tool that might be helpful to our partners," said an FBI spokesperson. "Please know that we will continue to do everything we can to help you consistent with our legal and policy constraints. You have our commitment that we will maintain an open dialogue with you. We are in this together."
The FBI's involvement in hacking the iPhone comes off of a heated national debate about security versus privacy.
