BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The six acres of unused land between Downtown Baton Rouge and Mid-City could soon breathe new life.

The East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority is now asking developers to offer up ideas about how they could revive the old Entergy site on Government Street.

"That site was donated so that we would have the opportunity, the RDA would have the opportunity to bring back a historical site. This was the original power plant of Baton Rouge," said Gwen Hamilton with RDA.

Developers will start submitting requests for expressions of interest in renovating the old site.

The RDA said they are open to a range of ideas, including residential, mix-use, retail and office use.

"[This] will sort of spur development and bring together what's already happening Downtown and in Mid-City, but also on Government Street to give others hope and give them the presence that something good is happening in Baton Rouge," Hamilton said.
