BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge will soon have more men and women on the street who can fight fires.
On Friday morning, 29 recruits with the Baton Rouge Fire Department graduated from the training academy.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Zoar Baptist Church on Hooper Rood.
Officials said the recruits went through six months of training at the fire academy, receiving many certifications including one for Hazardous Materials Awareness and Hazardous Materials Operations. They also completed Emergency Medical Technician classes.
Before joining the ranks of fellow firefighters, all graduates will first need to complete the national registry.
