BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Capitol Area Court Appointed Special Advocate Association is looking for African-American volunteers.
CASA is searching for African-American volunteers to be the voices for children on foster care and make sure their needs are being met and they find safe, permanent homes.
The organization says that the program needs volunteers that the children can identify with and can also provide a positive influence to make a difference in the child's life.
In 2015, while nearly 80 percent of the children served by the children served by the Capitol Area CASA were African-American, only a third of the volunteers for the organization were African-American.
CASA will be accepting volunteers into their next training course which begins in May 3.
