Crime Stoppers: Woman accused of stealing $49K from a check meant for a company

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A woman is wanted on charges for allegedly depositing a check made payable to her and a company and then withdrawing money that was supposed to be paid to the company.

Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers reported the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is trying to find Stacy Brewer, 45.

Investigators said Brewer deposited a $60,000 business check into her personal checking account in August 2015. They added it was made out to both she and a lumber company.

Detectives also said Brewer allegedly knew the entire amount was supposed to be paid to the lumber company. They reported Brewer made the deposit and then withdrew $49,000.

She is wanted on charges of bank fraud and felony theft.

Brewer is described as 5’7” tall and weighs 180 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair.
