BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Firefighters were called out to a fire that possibly destroyed a McDonald's in Baton Rouge early Monday morning.
It happened at the McDonald's on Florida Boulevard near North Foster Drive before 4 a.m. As of 7 a.m., officials reported there was still lots of fire inside the building in an area that is difficult to reach.
There were flames shooting from the roof when news crews arrived on the scene. Some witnesses reported seeing flames as high as 30 feet in the air.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported there were no injuries. Officials added the building is likely a total loss due to the extensive damage.
An owner said the fire department will handle building, but his main concern now is his employees.
The cause of the fire is being investigated, but Mark Miles, a spokesman with BRFD, said foul play is not suspected.
The McDonald's at that location has stood since 1964.
