BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials said a planned partnership between two health systems hopes to improve quality and cost effectiveness of healthcare in Baton Rouge.
General Health System and Ochsner Health System announced Thursday a letter of intent has been signed to partner together to offer patients more services, more options and better access to care.
Officials said the partnership will include Baton Rouge General Mid-City, Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet and Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge.
"This partnership is the next step in transforming healthcare in Baton Rouge," said Mark Slyter, GHS/Baton Rouge General president and CEO. "Combining our unparalleled track record with Ochsner's nationally recognized reputation creates the most comprehensive system in the greater Baton Rouge region, offering more patients an even wider range of conveniences and options for leading-edge care, close to home."
Officials added the full agreement will take several months to complete.
