BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The recent attack in Brussels will not stop a group of East Baton Rouge middle schoolers' trip to Europe.
The school board said more than 100 students and parents will head to London and Paris Friday as a part of a trip headed by McKinley Middle Magnet.
EBR Superintendent Warren Drake said it is a great learning opportunity for students, but safety is their biggest concern.
"We're talking to the tour operator, we're in touch with the federal government's travel ban or travel warning so we can be right up on everything," Drake said. "But the bottom line is right now it's on. I'd hate to see it canceled, but the threats in the world that we have today are something we have to live with."
The tour company will issue a partial refund for any cancellations.
